The University Academic Staff Union (ASUU) has called on all election officials, especially academics, to make an effort to live above the table when Nigerians go to the polls on Saturday, 23 February.

Dr. Dele Ashiru, president of the section of Lagos University of the Union, made this appeal during an interview with the Nigerian News Agency (NAN) on Thursday at Lagos.

According to the NAN, the Saturday elections, initially scheduled for Feb. 16, were postponed by INEC President, Professor Mahmood Yakubu, citing logistical and operational difficulties.

According to Ashiru, academics and even students wishing to be present at Saturday’s polls must ensure a high level of integrity.

He added that they did not want to focus more on pressure, and by themselves.

“The election is a game, was not it.Whoever wins and does so transparently, should be magnanimous in the win.

“And those who do not win must take it in good faith, knowing that there is another moment.

“We must at all times strive to put the interest of our country before anything else,” warned the trade unionist.

The National Association of Parents / Teachers of Nigeria (NAPTAN) has also called on Nigerians in general to join INEC to ensure that the elections run smoothly and to throw the country into the country. chaos.

Deputy Chief Adeolu Ogunbanjo, second National Vice President of the Association, added that students, especially those who would participate in the election.

According to him, they must comply with the rules and regulations of the electoral law.

“We are happy to be able to return to their respective campuses now.

“That said, we know that some of them participated in Saturday’s polls, just like the members of our youth corps, so they may end up in the exercise of their electoral duties.

“They should do the right thing in the future, one way or the other.

They should not even be used for the arrest of ballot boxes and other electoral openings. They must remain objective and ensure that all their documentation is authentic, “he said.

Ogunbanjo called on Nigerians to comply with the law while they went out en masse, voted and returned to their respective homes to wait for election results.
